Minakawaite, a new mineral of RhSb composition was found from the river which crossing the clinopyroxinite mass in the ultramafic rock body of the Kurosegawa belt, Kumamoto prefecture, Japan. Minakawaite was named in honor of Japanese mineralogist, prof. Tetsuo Minakawa of Ehime University. Minakawaite is identical with synthetic RhSb phase with MnP –type structure. It corresponds to the Sb-analogue of cherepanovite.
