Water is one of the major volatiles present in the Earth's surface layers, and it is continuously supplied to the Earth's interior by subducting slab. Water has a significant effect on the physical properties and melting temperatures of minerals. Al is the abundant element after Mg, Fe, and Si in subducting plate materials, and it has an odd valence (Al3+). Therefore the coupling substitution with H+ can increase the water content in minerals. We conducted an experimental study to clarify the differences in Al substitution patterns in various high pressure hydrous minerals.
