[R4-11] Solubility of Amorphous Magnesium Carbonate at Low Temperature
Keywords:Amorphous Magnesium Carbonate, Solubility
In closed lake environments such as alkaline saline lakes, it has been reported that Mg carbonate derived from atmospheric CO2 is constantly precipitated. In closed lakes, amorphous Mg carbonate (AMC), which is unstable and a precursor of crystalline carbonate, is precipitated. Studies on CO2 fixation in closed lakes are scarce and the details aren’t clear. Thermodynamic data of AMC are also scarce, and more research is needed to understand the fixation. In this study, we estimated the solubility of AMC at low temperature and compared it with the results of winter closed lake surveys.
