[S2-08] Dissolution behaviors of silicate minerals in the presence of chelating agents under alkaline conditions
Keywords:silicate minerals, dissolution, chelating agent, alkaline condition
The dissolution behaviours of silicate minerals have been considered by a lot of studies in part due to their potential to aid in carbon storage. Due to the strong ability to bind metals at acid to alkaline pHs, chelating agents, GLDA and HEDTA, are used in this study to investigate their potential in promoting silicates dissolution under alkaline conditions. Experiments found a significant enhancement on all elements extractions from silicates without the formation of a silica-rich layer.
