[12] Large Eddy Simulation of Flow Field Above and Within Urban Canopy Using SGS Model Based on Turbulent Structures
Keywords:LES, SGS model, coherent-structure Smagorinsky model
In this study, Large Eddy Simulation (LES) is performed to investigate the validity of coherent-structure Smagorinsky model (CSM), SGS model based on the coherent structures in grid-scale flow fields proposed by Kobayashi. CSM is applied to urban canopy flow and results are compared with those from standard Smagorinsky model (SM), experiments and DNS. The mean velocity distribution given by both SGS models showed good agreement with experiment and DNS. Spatial distribution of model coefficient estimated by CSM show larger value above urban canopy and smaller value behind the building than that of SM, given as 0.01. This causes the difference of the magnitude of the turbulence intensity and Reynolds stress between SM and CSM.
