[22] WIND TUNNEL MEASUREMENTS FOR PRESSURE DROP AND WIND REDUCTION OF MULTI GRID ARRAY ~FUNDAMENTAL STUDY ON FLUID DYNAMIC FUNCTIONS OF PINE FOREST~
Keywords:Pine forest, Pressure drop coefficient, Wind speed reduction
Using a high-resolution typhoon model (HTM), reproducing and pseudo-global warming experiments on the maximum wind speed (MWS) of Typhoon Haiyan (2013) are conducted in this study. The HTM, which includes some important physical processes in the typhoon boundary layer, can reproduce the realistic change of MWS in Haiyan with a high degree of accuracy. Pseudo-global warming experiments indicate that the uncertainty on MWS in Haiyan is larger due to the differences of general circulation models (GSM) than due to the differences of global warming scenarios. It is concluded that to project the future typhoon intensity by ensemble experiments, the GSM-derived data should be averaged before feeding into HTM which contains strong nonlinearity.
