[28] CFD analysis of separation flow around bluff rectangular sections near critical aspect ratio

This study is aimed to confirm the applicability of the OpenFOAM CFD software for bluff-body aerodynamics and to clarify quantitative separation flow structure. Firstly surface pressure coefficients and wind-force coefficients of rectangular cross sections near the critical aspect ratio were analyzed and compared with past experimental results. RANS simulation with k-w SST model reproduced well drag coefficients of different aspect ratios near the critical aspect ratio. Then the structure of separation flows around the rectangular cross sections was investigated and the size of the separation flow was quantitatively obtained.
