[34] EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON WIND DIRECTION AFFECTING TO OVERSHOOT OF WIND PRESSURE ON A BUILDING
Keywords:Short-rise-time gust, Overshoot of wind pressure, Wind direction
The effects of wind direction on the overshoot properties of wind pressure on several roof models under a short-rise-time gust were investigated using a wind tunnel test. First, a new procedure to avoid the effects of static pressure gradient affecting to pressure measurement was introduced. It was found the overshoot properties of unsteady wind pressure on the model subjected to the gust were strongly affected by the wind direction and the pressure distribution was different from the steady state. The remarkable negative pressure area was changed by the wind direction and the overshoot of wind pressure around the ridge of gable roof was considerably large in the case of wind directions of 45 degrees. And the duration of overshoot state was affected by the wind direction too. Moreover, the experimental results were coincident with CFD results reported previously.
