[37] Wind Load Combinations for Open-type Framed Membrane Structures
Keywords:Open type structure, Gable roof, External and internal pressure coefficient, Wind tunnel experiment
Wind loads on open-type framed membrane structures are investigated in two kinds of turbulent boundary layers. Three types of gable-end configurations, that is, enclosed, open and partially enclosed types are tested. The wind pressures are measured simultaneously at many points both on the external and internal surfaces. First, the critical conditions providing the maximum axial force for pinned-base frame and bending moment for clamped-base frame are detected for each flow. Then, the combination of external and internal pressures for evaluating the wind loads on the main wind force resisting systems is discussed by using three kinds of method focusing on the load effect. Furthermore, a discussion is made of the effect of gable-end configurations on the load effect induced by the external pressures on each structure. The result implies that the external pressure coefficients on enclosed type structure can be applied to the evaluation of wind loads on open-type structures.
