[43] ESTIMATION OF WIND LOADS ON ACTUAL BUILDING BY COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS

This study discusses investigated results for the applicability of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to the estimation of wind loads on buildings conducted as “Building Standard Development Promotion Program” of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MILT). We performed numerical simulation based on the CFD technique for the estimate of pressure distributions on two types of tall buildings. One was a residential building and the other was an office building. Large eddy simulation (LES) was adopted for the numerical model of wind turbulence. The wind tunnel experiments were also carried out for these tall buildings at three different facilities to compare with the numerical simulation results. The numerical results of the provided model were elucidated to be consistent with the experimental data, thus they were validated.
