AW3D Standard DEM products are the world’s first and the most precise 3D map covering all global land spaces with 2.5 meters and 5.0 meters resolution developed and sold jointly by NTT DATA and Remote Sensing Technology Center of Japan (“RESTEC”).

AW3D Standard has the world's best precision of 5 meters in spatial resolution with 5 meters height accuracy, expressing land terrain all over the world based on some 3 million images captured with ALOS-PRISM tri-stereo sensor by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).

Off-the-shelf and cloud/snow-free DSM have been available since April 2014, and then in 2019, 2.5m resolution DSM, the latest and updated algorithm by reprocessing the original satellite source of 5m resolution was released.

AW3D Enhanced products are also provides 0.5m to 2.0m resolutions of 3D map that utilizes the artificial satellite images captured by Maxar Technologies.
 Digital 3D map that realistically reproduces the ground surface of the whole of Japan. This service is a digital 3D map with a position accuracy equivalent to a map scale of 1: 2,500 based on 3D information with a resolution of 0.5 meters. Ortho images, terrain data (DSM), and building 3D are available throughout Japan, including remote islands, and the latest data is always available (scheduled to be updated once every two years).

AW3D All Japan 3D map data-set can be used in a wide range of fields such as status confirmation, various analyzes, and simulation applications.
 Since the global coverage was completed in 2016, RESTEC along with NTT DATA has been able to provide the 3D map data anywhere in the globe with a short delivery time and highly competitive price. For instance, the 3D map made from satellite imageries reduces the cost to a quarter of that of a conventional method that uses aerial photographs and also minimizes the lead time to one week.

It makes the use of this service possible in emerging countries particularly in Asia and Africa, in various fields including map creation, disaster prevention, the power plant in the electricity sector, mining-field inspections in the natural resource sector, infectious disease prevention in the hygiene sector, and urban and facility planning.

Now AW3D has been utilized in more than 2,000 projects, over 130+ countries.
