We provide an opportunity for senior high school students to give their presentations in the conference and to have discussions with them. This session has been presented as a public outreach session since 2006. The JpGU Publicity and Outreach Committee members are conveners of this session.

【概要】
170万年前、加古川は本校が立地する場所を流れていた。また、耐震補強工事で体育館下から深さ13.50mのボーリングコア２本が得られていた。コア中の凝灰岩礫から、加古川が本校の下を流れていた頃の凝灰岩の分布を推定しようと考えた。コア中の凝灰岩礫は、基質の粒度は不均一でやや粗く、含まれる岩片は基質と同質の流紋岩片で大きさは不均一、溶結していない。一方現在分布している凝灰岩は、加古川上流に向かって次第に基質の分級が不完全で粗くなり、中部で凝灰角礫岩に変化し、岩片や斑晶が溶結する。これらを比較した結果、現在下流で見られる上質で細粒均質な凝灰岩層が加古川中流部まで広く分布していたことがわかった。
