[S-VC46] Dynamics of volcanic eruptions and igneous activities

Mon. May 25, 2015 9:00 AM - 10:45 AM 304 (3F)

Convener:*Tomofumi Kozono(Department of Geophysics, Graduate School of Science, Tohoku University), Yujiro Suzuki(Earthquake Research Institute, The University of Tokyo), Satoshi Okumura(Division of Earth and Planetary Materials Science, Department of Earth Science, Graduate School of Science, Tohoku University), Chair:Satoshi Okumura(Division of Earth and Planetary Materials Science, Department of Earth Science, Graduate School of Science, Tohoku University)

This session discusses the dynamics of volcanic and igneous activities such as magma accumulation, magma ascent in volcanic conduits, and dispersion of volcanic products. In order to understand such multi-scale phenomena, the researches of microscopic and macroscopic scales and the techniques that combine the different scales are required. We aim to discuss the latest approaches based on the recent observations, laboratory experiments and numerical simulations, from the viewpoint of cross-cutting research.
