Geography and Earth Science in the curriculum of high school education, while the approaches have been different between the two subjects, have the partially duplicative contents. For example, about the landform and the climate, in Geography the relation between human living and them, and in Earth Science process of formation and its principle, have been mainly dealt with, however, the contents of the two subjects are clearly overlapped.
From now on, it is necessary to examine how to deal with those duplicative parts while we take advantage of the characteristics of the subjects. The contents such as natural environment and disaster prevention have already been dealt with in the two subjects. And the cooperation and coordination between the teachers of the two subjects are essential in order for students to apply what they have learned to the future.
In today’s presentation, we will report on the cooperation and coordination of the contents dealt with in the two subjects in our school where Geography A and Basic Earth Science are laid together, and suggest how to proceed toward the realization of better teaching.
