[M-IS27] Atmospheric electricity: Applications toward natural disaster mitigation

Tue. May 28, 2019 10:45 AM - 12:15 PM 202 (2F)

convener:Yasuhide Hobara(Graduate School of Information and Engineering Department of Communication Engineering and Informatics, The University of Electro-Communications), Masashi Kamogawa(Department of Physics, Tokyo Gakugei University), Chairperson:Yasuhide Hobara

In recent years, various types of natural disasters caused by climate change, earthquake, etc. occur frequently in the world. In 2018 heavy precipitation in various regions of Japan and the earthquakes in Hokkaido and Indonesiaproduced/greater human and economic/damage.
In 2019JpGU Atmospheric Electricity (AE) session, invited experts are going to introduce their scientific challenges in order to monitor, predict and mitigate natural disasters by using knowledge of the atmospheric electricity. For example, monitoring and prediction of extreme weather by the latest weather radar system and lightning observations, electromagnetic phenomena prior to earthquakes, etc. will be included. We certainly welcome contributed papers regarding all topics on atmospheric electricityincluding global circuit, ion and fair weather electricity, thunderstorm electrification, lightning physics, lightning and meteorology, electrical effects of thunderstorms on the middle and upper atmosphere such as transient luminous events and high energy phenomena, lightning protection, terrestrial electromagnetic environment and so on.
