[SSS15-P13] Active faults around the Niu Mountains, northern part of Fukui Prefecture, Japan

The Niu Mountains is located between Japan Sea and the Fukui Plain, northern Fukui Prefecture. Many active faults have already been reported around the Niu Mountains (e.g., Research Group for Active Faults, 1991). Along the eastern coastal area of the Niu Mountains, the Yanagase-Sekigahara Fault develops in submarine area, and the Ayukawa Faults develop in the land area, respectively. In the eastern side of the Niu Mountains, the Sarage Fault, the Asahi Fault, the Semiguchi Fault, the Sabae Fault, and the Ozowara Fault are mapped, but tectonic landforms of these active faults have not been described in detail. In this study, we mapped distribution of faults somewhat different from previous studies by interpretation of 1/10000 air photographs and stereoscopic image created from 5-10 m DEM of GSI. In this presentation, we report the precise distribution and characteristics of tectonic landforms of these active faults, and discuss their tectonic implications briefly.
