The record of the historical earthquake in Japan shows that the ratio of the number of victims to the number of completely destroyed houses increases in the case of the earthquake in which the surface rupture. Using this relationship, we discussed the question "Is there a surface rupture along the Gifu-Ichinomiya fault at the time of the Nobi earthquake?" The record used for the examination is the damaged data in the municipality at the time. As a result, it was found that the ratio of the number of victims to the number of completely destroyed houses is higher along the Gifu - Ichinomiya fault than in the surrounding area. Therefore, Gifu - Ichinomiya fault existed, we believe there was a displacement in the Nobi earthquake.
