[MIS08-04] Bandaisan Geopark's traveling exhibitions and lectures on "Debris avalanche in the world"

Bandaisan Geopark was built with the aim of showing visitors how the landform and people's lives were affected by the mountain collapse which occurred 2 times in 50,000 years ago and 1888. Mt. Bandai Museum is the core exhibition facility.
The year 2018 marked a turning point, 130 years after the collapse, and 30 years after the museum opened.
Since rock avalanches (debris avalanche) occur only about once in 100 years in Japanese Island, a special exhibition was held at the Museum to highlight the avalanche, which is not well known to the public. In addition, the traveling exhibition was also carried out in the volcanic museum in the whole country.
Believing that this traveling exhibition would promote cooperation and mutual understanding among the geoparks that participated in the event, we also held symposiums for public and lectures for school children.
In this presentation, the outline of planned exhibition, symposium and lectures are introduced, and the difference of understanding of volcano by region is introduced from the participant’s questionnaire carried out in delivery lectures.
