Miyoshi city in Tokushima prefecture is called "the central Shikoku island", which consists of "Sora" and "Machi" area. In the Sora area, villages are scattered on the gentle slopes that are formed by landslides in Shikoku mountains and Sanuki mountain range, and there we can find various creative solutions for living on such landforms in agriculture, architecture and customs. On the other hand, in the Machi area people live on river terraces made by the Yoshino river or on the ground formed by activities of the Median Tectonic Line, where the shredded tabaco industry and water transportation business were prosperous utilizing the Yoshino river.
As stated above, we, Miyoshi city, who has deep relationships with the earth and culture, are promoting activities aiming for the Japanese Geopark certification. We are doing the "Geotours" as one of efforts that have tourists and local people enjoy relationships with the earth and culture.
In this presentation, we introduce four types of the Geotours; by 1) Geologist, 2) Staff in Geopark plan, 3) Geoguide, 4) High school student.
