[H-CG29] Role of scientists in rehabilitation of nuclear disaster areas

convener:Taku Nishimura(Deptartment of Biological and Environmental Engineering, Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, University of Tokyo), Masaru Mizoguchi(Graduate school of Agricultural and Life Sciences, The University of Tokyo), Kosuke Noborio(Meiji University)

Nine years have passed since nuclear power plant accident at Fukushima after Great East Japan Earthquake on March 2011. Memory of the accident is getting less while several governmental actions accelerating the reconstruction of Fukushima from the nuclear disaster have been implement. Still we have many unsolved problems in the disaster area, such as restart of agricultural activities as well as management of radioactive material polluted waste water. Pure natural and social scientific issues such as multiscale mass (including radioactive materials) circulation and rehabilitation policy for depopulated areas after the accident are essential for the reconstruction.
This session aims to discuss cooperation of activities of scientific research, education and implement of outcomes of them in the disaster area. Considering international collaborations at disaster areas we will invite a foreign guest speaker to promote the discussion. This issue is not limited to nuclear disaster areas rather it is a core issue at areas of depopulation and aging community in Japan. So that discussion would not be limited in Fukushima.
