[G02-04] Training students to be teachers who respond quickly and accurately to disasters -Akita University's disaster prevention education course “Natural Disasters and Disaster Prevention Education” -

1) Outline of "Natural Disaster and Disaster Prevention Education"
The Disaster Prevention Education course “Natural Disasters and Disaster Prevention Education” at the Faculty of Education and Culture of Akita University is an elective course for students in school curriculum. There are about 25 students, all of whom are eager to become teachers. In this presentation, I would like to explain about the viewpoint of "natural disaster and disaster prevention education".
2) Teachers trained in “Natural Disaster and Disaster Prevention Education”
In "Natural Disasters and Disaster Prevention Education," students learn basic knowledge of natural disasters. Furthermore, in order to train teachers who can deal with emergency natural disasters and plan and envision disaster prevention education, it is necessary to improve their ability to respond to disasters and to plan disaster prevention education.
3) Develop emergency response skills
a)In “Natural Disaster and Disaster Prevention Education”, classes on disaster factors are mainly given in the form of short lectures. b) “Natural Disasters and Disaster Prevention Education” helps students understand what happens during a disaster through their own research. c) In “Natural Disaster and Disaster Prevention Education,” students are given the opportunity to experience quick responses in group work that is separated by time. 4) “Natural Disasters and Disaster Prevention Education” makes extensive use of group work to develop independent judgment.
4) Training for disaster preparedness
To prepare for a disaster, it is necessary to a) understand the disaster environment in which the school is located, b) implement disaster prevention education, and 3) read the hazard map and make a disaster prevention plan.
