Keywords:wastewater treatment, Bacillus, closed bio-ecosystems

Construction of energy-saving and space-saving wastewater treatment systems is one of the important issues for closed bio-ecosystems. In this study, we investigated the usefulness of wastewater treatment by activated sludge focused on the domination of a bacteria group mainly comprising of bacteria of the genus Bacillus. In addition, effective utilization of the wastewater treated by this activated sludge were examined.
We revealed that the activated sludge focused on Bacillus contained microorganisms had high organic matter decomposition activity (amylase activity, protease activity, lipase activity, cellulase activity). Furthermore, we found some microorganisms that have antimicrobial activity against pathogenic microorganisms, such as plant pathogenic fungi and food poisoning bacteria, in this activated sludge.
