[HGG01-03] Current status of natural park management in Kamikochi, Chubu-Sangaku National Park, Japan
Keywords:national park, natural conservation, erosion control
Kamikochi is one of most famous mountain national park in Japan. In addition, it is a place where vigorous nature conservation efforts have been made, such as the regulation of private cars from 1975. However, land transformation and natural destruction are currently underway along the Azusa River channel. In the management plan of the Chubu Mountains National Park established by the Ministry of the Environment, the goal at Kamikochi is "Environment that properly preserves magnificent mountains, ponds, and river scenery." The documents show three factors that affect the natural environment: erosion of mountain trails, invasion of alien organism, and damage by birds and animals. However, as the study of Kamikochi Natural History Research Group has already revealed, it is the riverside fixation and the construction of erosion control dams that have affected the natural environment in this area. There is erosion control work to maintain the park facilities, so it is necessary to reconsider the location of the park use facilities in Kamikochi.
