Keywords:Disaster mitigation information, Severe weather

Japan Meteorological Agency issues Emergency Warnings, Warnings and Advisories in response to the significance of possible disasters in association with meteorological phenomena so that disaster management authorities and residents can take appropriate measures to mitigate possible disasters.
During the "Heavy Rainfall in July 2018", JMA issued warnings from an early stage through the announcement of disaster prevention weather information, support to municipalities, and a press conference. However, the announcement of such information did not necessarily lead to evacuation behavior of residents. Based on this, in fiscal 2018, JMA held a “Review Committee on Dissemination of Disaster Prevention Weather Information” by the media, local government officials, and related ministries and agencies.
