This session, slated for the 2021 convention, will mark the 10th time the meeting has been convened since the first public session was held a year after the Great East Japan Earthquake. We have consistently focused on how to provide disaster prevention education that is universally and continuously applicable. Almost every year since the first session has been marked by earthquakes and meteorological disasters, and each time we discovered defects in our preparatory measures to mitigate the effects of disasters. The accumulation of such bitter experiences must lead to the creation of new disaster prevention measures. For this purpose, it is necessary to share the experiences of regions right across the country. In particular, people involved in disaster prevention education must extract, from what has been learned in individual regions, those lessons that are universally applicable to any region, and pass them on to future generations. The year 2021 will mark the 10th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake, which resulted in the death or loss of more than 18,000 people, and many more injuries, within the space of just a few hours. The last 10 years has revealed a number of issues to be addressed in disaster prevention education. We would like to review and discuss these issues.
