[H-CG26] Adaptation to climate change and its social implementation

Sun. Jun 6, 2021 5:15 PM - 6:30 PM Ch.09

convener:Hiroya Yamano(National Institute for Environmental Studies), Yoichi Ishikawa(JAPAN Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology), KOJI DAIRAKU(University of Tsukuba), Makoto Tamura(Global and Local Environment Co-creation Institute, Ibaraki University)

The impacts of climate change will increase in the risks to societies through increased intensities of typhoons and torrential rains, changes in the distribution of organisms, deterioration in quality and yield in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries, etc. In response to this, Japan enforced "Climate Change Adaptation Act" in 2018, aiming to minimize or avoid the damage caused by climate change, and to build a sustainable society.
In this session, toward planning adaptation to climate change and enhancing its social implementation based on scientific knowledge, we will discuss about generation of climate change projection data, assessment of the impacts and risks of climate change in various fields, as well as social implementation of adaptation plans by co-creation with stakeholders and/or by local climate change adaptation acts.
