Floods and drought, environment deterioration and pollution, global warming and island losing, and ecosystem degradation endanger the security of water, food, energy, health and ecosystem services. To confront these challenges, there is a demand to foster its application capacity and to develop an integrated, sharable, and sustained observation systems. Group on Earth Observations (GEO) as an intergovernmental body is a partnership of more than 100 national governments including Japan and in excess of 100 Participating Organizations that envisions a future where decisions and actions for the benefit of humankind are informed by coordinated, comprehensive and sustained Earth observations. To promote a regional cooperation on earth observation with broad engagement of various communities of earth observations, earth system modeling, environmental assessment and society, AOGEO as one of regional initiatives is established to foster regional application activities focusing on the emerging issues in the region.
The purpose of this session is 1) to exchange the current status of data integration efforts in global GEO and regional AOGEO, 2) to welcome any contributions of similar activities from outside of GEO and AOGEO, and 3) to foster GEO and AOGEO activities and its related activities via any submissions and contributions of analysis of earth observations both from integrated data and single unique data on the earth science and societal applications. Therefore, we seek submissions which include a) scientific researches by use of earth observation data both from various platforms including satellite and in-situ, b) development of new data sets for national, regional and global analyses, and c) development of data integration and management platforms and its broad application to our society including a concept of knowledge hubs.
