[P-EM10] Frontiers in solar physics

Sun. Jun 6, 2021 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM Ch.06 (Zoom Room 06)

convener:Takaaki Yokoyama(School of Science, University of Tokyo), Shinsuke Imada(Institute for Space-Earth Environmental Research, Nagoya University), Shin Toriumi(Institute of Space and Astronautical Science, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency), Alphonse Sterling(NASA/MSFC), Chairperson:Shin Toriumi(Institute of Space and Astronautical Science, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency)

This session is for discussions on recent progress in solar and heliospheric physics, and related fields (including plasma physics and planetary physics). In 2020, we had several important milestones in this area. The Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope (DKIST operated by NSO) has taken its first image and its call for proposals in observation cycle 1 was announced. The Solar Orbiter was launched by ESAunder collaboration with NASA and released the first data to the public. In Japan, SOLAR-C(EUVST) was selected at ISAS/JAXA as 4th competitively-chosen middle-class mission. We will discuss what observational and theoretical studies achieved in the recent years and what should be addressed next in the coming mid-2020s. We welcome contributions not only by solar researchers but also those from related fields on observations, theories, numerical works, and experiments.
