A proposal entitled by "Importance of Earth Education in Elementary and Secondary School Education and Lifelong Education: for learning essential knowledge to live on a changing earth" was published by the Science Council of Japan on June 23, 2020. This proposal points out that, for all people living in the Japanese archipelago frequently attacked by severe natural disasters, it is important to increase the chances to acquire "the essential knowledge to live on a changing earth" in school learning of the nature, and learn it lifelong. Responding to this proposal, this session is held by WG for Studying on Teacher Training System, established for studying complex and diverse issues related to teacher training and others in May 2019 in the Education Committee, JpGU. This session aims to deepen discussions on the current situation and issues of elementary and secondary school teachers responsible for earth education in the fields of Geosciences and Geography regarding the teacher training and recruitment system and self-improvement of knowledge and skills.
