In space missions, we have to avoid both forward and backward contamination. The Committee on Space Research (COSPAR) develop, maintain, and promote the Planetary Protection (PP) Policy. Space organizations of each country observe PP in their space missions. Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has started the organizational PP activity. It is also necessary to confirm this issue in closed eco-systems for human habitation missions. Here, we review the current status of PP, and we want to discuss future plans.
