[HSC05-18] Consideration about public consensus building of CCS

*Takaomi Tobase1 (1.Electric Power Development Co., Ltd.)

Keywords:CCS, social consensus building, necessity, appropriateness, validity

The main issues to implement CCS in our society are considered as follows.
To reduce uncertainty in the storability evaluation of the CO2 reservoirs.
To realize cost reduction of CCS.
To development of storage sites.
To build public consensus for CCS.
This paper focuses on the consensus building. According to previous studies, citizens in Japan know little about CCS. On the other hand, some people who have a deep interest in environmental problems are skeptical about CCS.In order to promote the consensus building for CCS, the understanding of the people must also be secured in addition to acceptance of local citizens.I consider the consensus building of CCS from three viewpoints of necessity, appropriateness and validity.
