[MIS16-13] Wind-wave changes in Tokyo Bay during the Holocene: impact of sea-level change and land configuration

*Katsuto Uehara1 (1.Kyushu University)

Keywords:paleowave reconstruction, numerical modeling, Holocene, estuary

A paleowave simulation has been carried out to reconstruct changes in the wind-wave field in Tokyo Bay during the Holocene, when the bay configuration altered greatly due to the inundation of a drawn valley associated with a rapid sea-level rise and subsequent infilling of the valley by fluvial sediments. The numerical run was conducted by combining a third-generation wave model SWAN and paleobathymetries reconstructed by the author for every 1kyr from 10ka to 4ka. A preliminary experiment made by applying uniform sea-surface winds indicated an increase of the significant wave height by 10-20% compared to the present-day state.
