A large-scale flood occurred in Uttarakhand, North India, around 10:30 local time on February 7, 2021. About 170 or more missing workers and 38 people were confirmed dead at the Tapovan Vishnugad Hydro Power Plant, and structures such as houses, dams, hydroelectric power plants, and bridges were damaged. The flood occurred upstream of the Rishiganga River, then merged with the Dhauliganga River and passed through the Raini Village (2000 m asl) in the Chamoli District and the Topoban Vishnugad Hydro Power Plant (1800 m asl) located downstream. As the causes of the flood, we confirmed the collapse of rock slope and small hanging glacier, based on the satellite images before and after the flood.
