[MSD40-03] 静止軌道からの雷観測
Recently, Geostationary Lightning Mapper (GLM) was launched into geostationary orbit from the US. Even though only four years have passed since its launch, the GLM is shown to be establishing a legacy of applications likely to become ubiquitous accross a wide variety of meteorological domains. For example, the GLM has been shown to be useful in the following application areas: 1) Improving Lightning Safety, 2) Improving Sever Thunderstorm and Tornado Warning, 3) Improving Safety and Effectiveness of Wildfire Response, 4) Improving Short-term Model Forecast (Data Assimilation), 5) Improving Precipitation Estimation, 6) Improving Tropical Cyclone Diagnosis and Warning, 7) Improving Climate Applications, 8) Value of Filling Data Gaps, 9) Value of Mitigation Aviation Hazards (Rudlosky et al. 2020). In this presetnation, based on the assessment report published from NOAA, we will report the major application areas of the geostationary lightning sensor.
