Sado Museum is one of the main facilities of Sado Island Geopark.
Active collaboration between this museum and Sado Island Geopark has been a challenge for many years, and during the revalidation process in 2019, it was suggested that the museum could be used as a place of "learning-based exhibits that would interest children about Geopark".

Two events for children jointly held at Sado Museum in 2020 were the first step towards this goal.
First of all, the exhibition was collaborated with a stamp rally. The stamp rally is organized every year under the initiative of Niigata University. A stamp rally means going to different locations to collect stamps on a card. In many rallies you can win prizes according to the number of stamps you collect. The stamp rally is a themed event designed to encourage people to visit Geoparks in Niigata Prefecture. The theme for 2020 was "Microfossils in Geoparks," and Sado Museum held a mini exhibition in line with this theme.
Also, we participated in the "Sado Museum Festival" organized by this museum as an event for children. In our program, entitled "Rock Garden Treasure Hunt", visitors were asked to solve quizzes about rocks on display while walking around the museum's courtyard.

Through these activities, we believe that we were able to increase the number of children who visit the museum and introduce Sado Island Geopark to younger children. Sado Island Geopark has been steadily promoting cooperation by holding special exhibitions at Sado Museum and by having Geopark guides show visitors around the museum.
In this presentation, I will describe the details, effects, and challenges of the various events held at Sado Museum.
