International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) has been a very successful international Earth science program over the past five decades with many scientific accomplishments in paleoclimatology, microbiology, marine geology, geophysics, and more. If you will major in Earth science at university or you are doing now in undergraduate, you wouldn't miss seeing the name in textbooks or papers or presentations at least once in your study life even if you are not directly participated in the program as IODP has been one of the largest data sources for the scientists in this field to study on or refer to. In this presentation, I will introduce the program and inside management work as sample of non-research role in academia, and I hope it will be helpful for you to broaden your perspective of possible career after PhD or MS and could be any hint in your future career planning.
