[O07-P12] Relationship between five gigantic jets in the past and cloud-to-ground lightning

Four gigantic jets have been observed from our school. According to previous studies, before and after the gigantic jet in 2017 occurred, the number of cloud-to-ground lightnings and the amount of their energy had been prone to decrease (Yamashita, 2017). This study aims to examine whether the other gigantic jets have a similar tendency. We investigated the positional relationship between the gigantic jets and cumulonimbus with infrared images, and the numeral one between cloud-to-ground lightnings with observational data. Based on the results, the tendency mentioned in the previous study was confirmed. Gigantic jets also tend to occur at the edge of huge cumulonimbus and the area cloud-to-ground lightnings were observed remarkably in. This indicates that gigantic jets occur if numerous charges are stored there.
