In this study, we estimated the fluctuation mechanism in the amount of spring water at Otomeyama Park in Shinjuku by comparing it with the groundwater level and water temperature in wells.

From October 2020 to January 2021, there was a period when there was only 16 mm of total rainfall in 90 days. At this time, the amount of spring water decreased by 87% compared to a normal year, and according to the groundwater level that decreased at the same time, it was classified into the following three stages with different water levels.

The first stage is when the groundwater level declines slowly but the amount of spring water reaches 1L/min, which is considered to be the base flow rate; the second stage is when the groundwater level fluctuates but the amount of spring water does not change; and the third stage is when the amount of spring water increases rapidly.

It can be said that the amount of spring water inflow, groundwater level, and water temperature in the well are controlled in these three stages.

This is thought to be due to the difference in strata.
