[PEM09-10] Science Objectives of FACTORS mission
キーワード:極域電磁気圏、将来計画
FACTORS (Frontiers of Formation, Acceleration, Coupling and Transport Mechanisms Observed by the Outer Space Research System) is a future polar orbiting satellite mission to understand coupling processes between space and Earth’s atmosphere including energy inputs from magnetosphere associated with aurora and ion outflow from ionosphere. FACTORS is a next-generation multi-satellite formation flight mission, and comprehensive plasma/particle and fields/waves instruments as well as visible/FUV imagers are installed. Major science objectives are 1) energy transport in the magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling system and their relationship to small-scale aurora phenomena, 2) particle transport in the magnetosphere-ionosphere system by ion outflow. In particular, we focus on the acceleration and/or heating of ions by plasma waves to the escaping energies. The team is now working for discussions about the science strategy. Moreover, the team conducts several simulation studies about orbit and measurements of waves. In this presentation, we report the science objectives and possible observation strategies.
