[SGD01-21] Activity of GGOS working group on DOIs for geodetic data sets from 2019 to 2021
キーワード:GGOS、DOI、geodesy data
The recognition has recently been established that scientific datasets should be shared on the basis of the FAIR principle [Willkinson et al., 2016]. Publishing data using digital object identifiers (DOIs) is the best practice for sharing data with FAIR. This is particular relevance to geodesy, as geodesy researchers are more involved in operational and data provision than researchers in other disciplines. Therefore, geodesy needs structured mechanisms that enable citation to data and data products.
To address these challenges and identify opportunities to improve coordination and advocacy within the geodesy community, the International Association of Geodesy of Geodesy (IAG) Global Geodesy Observation System (GGOS) has established working group on DOIs. This working group has been designated to establish best practices and advocate the consistent implementation of DOIs in all IAG services and the larger geodesy community.

In the discussions of the WG, geodetic data, data acquisition institutions, and existing data DOI assignment rules have been classified. Working group aims to build larger rules without damaging the existing framework. Also, the subject of particularly important discussion is the understanding and organization of DOI rules and author's framework according to the nature of the data (static data, dynamic data, processed data, raw data, etc.). It is expected that the report will be issued in the future without spending too much time.
