[SSS11-P06] Comprehensive Research Project for the Nara-bonchi-toen Fault Zone
Keywords:Nara-bonchi-toen Fault Zone, long-term earthquake evaluation of active faults, strong ground motion prediction
The Nara-bonchi-toen fault zone is south part of Kyoto and Nara basin faults, eastern margin of the Kyoto and Nara basins. Our research group has started to study this active fault zone in detail to get the information for developing the long-term earthquake evaluation and the strong ground motion prediction in 2019-2021FY.
This research group conducts an integrated research on long-term evaluation of earthquake occurrence of the active faults (Sub-theme 1), seismic activity and crustal structure (Sub-theme 2), strong ground motion prediction (Sub-theme 3) and outreach (Sub-theme 4). In 2019FY, Sub-theme 1 conducted to prepare the DEMs in this fault area, field surveys for trench site and height distribution of the basement of the Osaka group in the target area. Sub-theme 2 started the temporal seismic observations for obtaining the stress field in this area, and field surveys to obtain the characteristics of the micro faults. They also conducted the microtremor array observations with the member of Sub-theme 3. Sub-theme 3 conducted the seismic reflection surveys in the south Kyoto and the north Nara basins so as to image the basin and basin-basement structures. They also collected the geological boring well-logs and conducted microtremor array observations. Sub-theme 4 hosted a study group meeting on earthquake hazards in this area, that consists of the researchers, risk management members of local governments and companies in this area. We also show new findings in 2020FY and a research plan in 2021FY.
