Keywords:Equality, Diversity, Inclusion

In the past years scientific societies working in geosciences have stimulated several initiatives to promote equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI). Although significant improvements have been achieved, there is still a lot to do before achieving a fully inclusive environment. Moreover, data shows that COVID pandemic increased inequalities and the future is uncertain in many ways. An essential ingredient is the coordination and synchronisation of our activities and the setting up of a global forum among us. As EDI movements are gaining momentum we must not miss this opportunity.

The goal is to strengthen relations, learn about on-going activities and priorities at our organisations. It is likely that we will identify common challenges and thus benefit from discussing together possible solutions – some of which may benefit from joint actions. Our communities (and ultimately our society) could only benefit from a global initiative jointly promoted by our organisations -- led by a positive and active attitude towards a more inclusive future.

This talk will address the importance of creating a joint EDI forum across partner organisations and benefits of joint borderless actions.
