The World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) is one of the international scientific organizations that the Science Council of Japan (SCJ) has joined on behalf of Japan. Scientists participating in the activities of WCRP have contributed to the development of climate science and a sustainable global society by dispatching representatives to science steering committees, planning international research programs, fostering young researchers, and supporting research exchanges. The achievements and a prospects of the WCRP will be introduced in a five-minute presentation, and the session will conclude with a discussion on the future promotion of international activities through the SCJ.
