[U14-06] Discussion on the current status and issues of the earth education

On June 23, 2020, the Earth and Planetary Science Committee, Earth and Planetary Science Human Resources Development Subcommittee, the Science Council of Japan, published a proposal "Importance of Earth Education in Elementary and Secondary Education and Lifelong Education: for learning essential knowledge to live on a changing earth". As a follow-up to this proposal, this session is convened by the WG for Studying on Teacher Training System, the Education Committee, JpGU, for the purpose of deepening discussions on the current status and issues regarding the training and recruitment system for primary and secondary school teachers in the fields of Geoscience and Geography, and self-improvement of knowledge and skills. We will discuss on what activities JpGU should carry out in the future in response to the proposal, what items should be intensively considered at the Science Council of Japan in the future, what proposal should be urgently published by the Science Council of Japan, and others. We look forward to the participation of many members who are interested in promoting and enhancing the earth education.
