To commemorate Prof. Syukuro Manabe’s winning of the 2021 Nobel Prize in Physics, this report acknowledges his great contribution to understanding of climate change, and involvement in IPCC’s early Assessment Reports.

In regard to Manabe’s pioneering research on the sensitivity of Earth’s climate to increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and development of global climate model, this report also introduces the IPCC Working Group I (WGI) contributions to the Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) with the most up-to-date science advances and improved understanding on equilibrium climate sensitivity and climate change projections.
