[HDS07-10] The Estimation of Nankai Trough Earthqauke Damages and Social Changes
Keywords:Vulnerability, Literacy for Disaster Risk Reduction, Nankai Trough Earthquake
In this paper, I discuss the recent social changes in Kochi City, Japan, which are pointed as increasingly more vulnarable, in relation to the revision of the governmental estimation of Nanka Trough Earthquake and its damages, and their implication to the theory of literacy for disaster risk reduction, based on my long-term field works. As a concluding remark, I would argue that it should be organized not only on the scientific knowledge about earthquake and/or tsunami, but also on social perspectives to the socio-economic structures of local communities and their vulnerabilities.
