[MIS11-P04] Making topographic model of Hakone volcano using lunch box lids and its video content

*Ryosuke Doke1, Ryota Ninomiya1 (1.Hot Springs Research Institute of Kanagawa Prefecture)

Keywords:Hakone volcano, topographic model, geopark, outreach, video content

Making a topographic model using lunch box lids has been widely used as an outreach material to learn about contour lines and topography. The Hot Springs Research Institute of Kanagawa Prefecture started an outreach program using the topographic model of Hakone Volcano in 2015, performed it at the Kanagawa Science Summer in 2016, and participated in science festivals and other events held in Kanagawa Prefecture (Doke, 2017). The content has also been used in several outreach or educational events at the Hakone Geopark.
However, due to the spread of the new coronavirus, it became difficult to participate in such educational events, and this content could not be fully utilized after 2020. For the Kanagawa Science Summer 2022, a video of the making of the topographic model and a topographic explanation were released via YouTube and our website instead of an in-person event. In this presentation, we will introduce the contents and discuss the possibilities for future utilization.
