[MZZ39-03] How to narrate history of science in the Anthropocene: Copernican Revolution and Stenonian Revolution

*Toshihiro Yamada1 (1.Taisho University)

Keywords:Anthropocene, historiography of science, Copernican revolution, Stenonian revolution, cosmographical revolution

This presentation aimes to explore how the 'Anthropocene' issues can influence the historiography of science. First, in early modern period, the narrative of the construction of modern physics by Copernican revolution should be supplemented with the emergence of geological time concept by Stenonian revolution, consulting the roles of the 'cosmographical revolution'. Second, consequently, in the 19th century, the narrative about the foundation of geology would be reexamined. Thus we will discuss at the same time ecucational and societal meanings of this kind of the narrative change.
