The "Nihon Saii shi" (History of Disaster in Japan) is a collection of historical documents on disasters published in 1893, the Meiji period and still in use today. The author Minoru Ogajima(1857-1892) investigated Japanese historical records from ancient to 19th century and divided their descriptions into twelve contents: (1) famine (2) winds, (3) fire, (4) drought, (5) rain, (6) flood, (7) plague, (8) eruption, (9) earthquake, (10) tsunami, (11) disaster by insect and (12) comet.
There is room for further study on its compilation process.This study focuses on Ogajima's manuscripts and their related documents held at the Statistics Library in Japan. we will discuss its compilation process through an examination of the citation routes of the documents.
