On February 15, 2013, an asteroid with an estimated diameter of 17 m and a mass of 10,000 tons approached from the direction of the sun, entered the atmosphere at a speed of 18.9 km/s, and exploded 29 km above Chelyabinsk Oblast. A shattered meteorite fell over Lake Chebarukuli, 70 km west-northwest of the explosion site, but caused little damage. However, it became a natural disaster due to the falling meteorite, such as damage to buildings and many injured people within a range of 50 km from the explosion point.
Ten years later, I will re-review the Chelyabinsk meteorite from the perspective of natural disasters caused by asteroid impacts.
